So too, though the tongue is a small part of the body, it boasts great things. Consider how a small fire sets ablaze a large forest.And the tongue is a fire. The tongue, a world of unrighteousness, is placed among our members. It stains the whole body, sets the course of life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.Every kind of animal, bird, reptile, and fish is tamed and has been tamed by humankind,but no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.With the tongue we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in God’s likeness.Blessing and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.

He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth;

If anyone thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue, his religion is useless and he deceives himself.

For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is mature, able also to control the whole body.

My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,

I said,“ I will guard my ways so that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle as long as the wicked are in my presence.”

The one who guards his mouth and tongue keeps himself out of trouble.

Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slander.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

A good person produces good things from his storeroom of good, and an evil person produces evil things from his storeroom of evil.I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak.For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

The one who guards his mouth protects his life; the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.

Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue, only a moment.

Lying lips are detestable to the LORD, but faithful people are his delight.

These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women, since they remained virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from humanity as the firstfruits for God and the Lamb.No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.

destruction is inside it; oppression and deceit never leave its marketplace.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies perishes.

He said,“ They are indeed my people, children who will not be disloyal,” and he became their Savior.

The wicked are overthrown and perish, but the house of the righteous will stand.
