One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

求主惟一事。足以慰幽衷。終身居主宅。陶然醉春風。逍遙聖殿裏。瞻仰樂無窮。

I’m asking the Lord for only one thing. Here is what I want. I want to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. I want to look at the beauty of the Lord. I want to worship him in his temple.

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.

I have asked the LORD for one thing– this is what I desire! I want to live in the LORD’s house all the days of my life, so I can gaze at the splendor of the LORD and contemplate in his temple.

One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple.

Lord, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.

Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

My heart says of you,“ Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.

but few things are needed— or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever- increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

“ So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

“ Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.

From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.

“ Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

For God, who said,“ Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help.

Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance,and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

And she made a vow, saying,“ Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”

and David inquired of the Lord,“ Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?”“ Pursue them,” he answered.“ You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.”

During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the Lord. The Lord said,“ It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death.”

I wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, Lord,

Ahimelek inquired of the Lord for him; he also gave him provisions and the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
