Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night I lift my voice, but I find no relief.

My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.

Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?

Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies continually taunt me, saying,“ Where is this God of yours?”

O Lord, God of my salvation, I cry out to you by day. I come to you at night.

Timothy, I thank God for you— the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.

You have hidden yourself in a cloud so our prayers cannot reach you.

So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again.

One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.

But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice.

O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers?

He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,“ Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him.He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief.“ Why are you sleeping?” he asked them.“ Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.”

Night and day we pray earnestly for you, asking God to let us see you again to fill the gaps in your faith.

And though I cry and shout, he has shut out my prayers.
