向我張口、如咆哮吞噬之獅兮、

其口孔張、吼似猛獅兮、

向我張口、猶如猛獅攫物而吼、

健牡紛紛兮。圍我周匝。來自巴珊兮。洶洶相逼。

Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide against me.

They are like roaring lions that tear to pieces what they kill. They open their mouths wide to attack me.

Like lions they open their jaws against me, roaring and tearing into their prey.

They gaped upon me[ with] their mouths,[ as] a ravening and a roaring lion.

They open their mouths to devour me like a roaring lion that rips its prey.

Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me; They said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.

He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, And as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.

All thine enemies have opened their mouth wide against thee; They hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up; Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.

They have gaped upon me with their mouth; They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me.

Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death;and they found it not, though many false witnesses came. But afterward came two,and said, This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.And the high priest stood up, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God.Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Henceforth ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.Then the high priest rent his garments, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy: what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard the blasphemy:

Save me from the lion’s mouth; Yea, from the horns of the wild- oxen thou hast answered me.

Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.And her prophets have daubed for them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, when Jehovah hath not spoken.

Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas;and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, My darling from the lions.

Lest they tear my soul like a lion, Rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
