Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.

Your enemies make evil plans against you. They think up evil things to do. But they can’t succeed.

Though they plan evil against you, though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.

Although they plot against you, their evil schemes will never succeed.

Though they intend to harm you and devise a wicked plan, they will not prevail.

In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.

Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.

He sent them to Bethlehem, and said,“ Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”

Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it. Then you showed me their doings.But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plans against me, saying,“ Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, and let’s cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”

“ Come,” they say,“ let’s destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

Behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it.His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men.The angel answered the women,“ Don’t be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified.He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying.

But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

For I have heard the slander of many, terror on every side, while they conspire together against me, they plot to take away my life.

saying,“ Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive:‘ After three days I will rise again.’Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come at night and steal him away, and tell the people,‘ He is risen from the dead;’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

For they don’t speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.

“ Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king within it, even the son of Tabeel.”This is what the Lord Yahweh says:“ It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”

Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand, for God is with us.”

They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him.But they said,“ Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people.”

When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.

He said to me,“ Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity, and who give wicked counsel in this city;

When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,saying,“ Didn’t we strictly command you not to teach in this name? Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”
