Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.

For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two- edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer.

Thou givest thy mouth to evil, And thy tongue frameth deceit.Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; Thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself: But I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.

If any man thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Who is this that hideth counsel without knowledge? Therefore have I uttered that which I understood not, Things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

How long wilt thou speak these things? And how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a mighty wind?

And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil.

Who is this that darkeneth counsel By words without knowledge?

For in many things we all stumble. If any stumbleth not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also.Now if we put the horses’ bridles into their mouths that they may obey us, we turn about their whole body also.Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, are yet turned about by a very small rudder, whither the impulse of the steersman willeth.So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!And the tongue is a fire: the world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell.For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind:but the tongue can no man tame; it is a restless evil, it is full of deadly poison.Therewith bless we the Lord and Father; and therewith curse we men, who are made after the likeness of God:out of the same mouth cometh forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

The good man out of his good treasure bringeth forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Your words have been stout against me, saith Jehovah. Yet ye say, What have we spoken against thee?Ye have said, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and escape.Then they that feared Jehovah spake one with another; and Jehovah hearkened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him, for them that feared Jehovah, and that thought upon his name.

because they have wrought folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I commanded them not; and I am he that knoweth, and am witness, saith Jehovah.
