The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes.

Sinful people are waiting to destroy me. But I will spend time thinking about your covenant laws.

The wicked lie in wait to destroy me, but I consider your testimonies.

Though the wicked hide along the way to kill me, I will quietly keep my mind on your laws.

The arrogant have smeared me with lies, but I obey Your precepts with all my heart.

He waits in ambush near the villages; he kills the innocent in secret places. His eyes are on the lookout for the helpless;he lurks in secret like a lion in a thicket. He lurks in order to seize the afflicted; he seizes the afflicted and drags him in his net.So he is oppressed and beaten down; the helpless fall because of his strength.

Your decrees are my delight and my counselors.

I have Your decrees as a heritage forever; indeed, they are the joy of my heart.

I cling to Your decrees; Lord, do not put me to shame.
