Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.

So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children,to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely.

Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord.

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the Lord.

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long.Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide.Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws.I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments.I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word.I haven’t turned away from your regulations, for you have taught me well.How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life. NunYour word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair.They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.

My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life.I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths.When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life.Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers.Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way. He who embraces her will not go unpunished.Excuses might be found for a thief who steals because he is starving.But if he is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole, even if he has to sell everything in his house.But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself.He will be wounded and disgraced. His shame will never be erased.For the woman’s jealous husband will be furious, and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge.He will accept no compensation, nor be satisfied with a payoff of any size.

These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young.

We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children,so the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born— and they in turn will teach their own children.So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.Then they will not be like their ancestors— stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.

Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say,“ Life is not pleasant anymore.”

“ You write bitter accusations against me and bring up all the sins of my youth.

So now, my sons, listen to me. Never stray from what I am about to say:Stay away from her! Never share it with strangers.Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love.Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman?For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him.He will die for lack of self control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness.
