I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.

I serve you, so help me to understand what is right. Then I will understand your covenant laws.

O Lord, I am your servant; yes, I am your servant, born into your household; you have freed me from my chains.

If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.

I am yours; rescue me! For I have worked hard at obeying your commandments.

But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Think about what I am saying. The Lord will help you understand all these things.

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.I am only a foreigner in the land. Don’t hide your commands from me!

That night God appeared to Solomon and said,“ What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”Solomon replied to God,“ You showed great and faithful love to David, my father, and now you have made me king in his place.O Lord God, please continue to keep your promise to David my father, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth!Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of yours?”

The prudent understand where they are going, but fools deceive themselves.

It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.

Look down and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant; save me, the son of your servant.

I believe in your commands; now teach me good judgment and knowledge.
