He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.

But before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard, this message came to him from the Lord:“ Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him,‘ This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord.

God rescued me from the grave, and now my life is filled with light.’“ Yes, God does these things again and again for people.He rescues them from the grave so they may enjoy the light of life.

“ But if an angel from heaven appears— a special messenger to intercede for a person and declare that he is upright—he will be gracious and say,‘ Rescue him from the grave, for I have found a ransom for his life.’Then his body will become as healthy as a child’s, firm and youthful again.When he prays to God, he will be accepted. And God will receive him with joy and restore him to good standing.

Then the Lord told him,“ Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!”So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!

But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of the grave. Interlude

O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.
