When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.

When our people were in Egypt, they forgot about the Lord’ s miracles. They didn’t remember his many kind acts. At the Red Sea they refused to obey him.

and they said to Moses,“ Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What in the world have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?Isn’t this what we told you in Egypt,‘ Leave us alone so that we can serve the Egyptians, because it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!’”

They did not remember what he had done, how he delivered them from the enemy,

Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore, I am commanding you to do this thing today.

They are a nation devoid of wisdom, and there is no understanding among them.I wish that they were wise and could understand this, and that they could comprehend what will happen to them.”

and with every kind of evil deception directed against those who are perishing, because they found no place in their hearts for the truth so as to be saved.Consequently God sends on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false.And so all of them who have not believed the truth but have delighted in evil will be condemned.

Though he causes us grief, he then has compassion on us according to the abundance of his loyal kindness.

They do not comprehend or understand, for their eyes are blind and cannot see; their minds do not discern.

But to this very day the LORD has not given you an understanding mind, perceptive eyes, or discerning ears!

I will tell of the faithful acts of the LORD, of the LORD’s praiseworthy deeds. I will tell about all the LORD did for us, the many good things he did for the family of Israel, because of his compassion and great faithfulness.

so that although they look they may look but not see, and although they hear they may hear but not understand, so they may not repent and be forgiven.”

He remembered his covenant with them, and relented because of his great loyal love.

They forgot what he had done, the amazing things he had shown them.

Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed,

But as for me, because of your great faithfulness I will enter your house; I will bow down toward your holy temple as I worship you.

Have mercy on me, O God, because of your loyal love! Because of your great compassion, wipe away my rebellious acts!

Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh– who are called“ uncircumcision” by the so- called“ circumcision” that is performed on the body by human hands–

When he learned of this, Jesus said to them,“ Why are you arguing about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Have your hearts been hardened?Though you have eyes, don’t you see? And though you have ears, can’t you hear? Don’t you remember?When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied,“ Twelve.”“ When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied,“ Seven.”Then he said to them,“ Do you still not understand?”

“ How long will you simpletons love naiveté? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
