When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.

要記住，你們曾在埃及做奴隸，你們的上帝耶和華拯救了你們。所以，我今天吩咐你們這樣做。

「以色列人愚昧無知，毫無見識。如果他們有智慧，就能明白這一切、知道自己的結局。

用盡各樣詭計欺騙那些將要滅亡的人，因為他們不喜歡接受那能拯救他們的真理。上帝就讓他們是非不辨，去相信那些虛假的謊言，使一切不相信真理、反喜愛不義的人都被定罪。

主儘管使人憂傷，祂依然憐憫人，因為祂有無限的慈愛。

他們愚昧無知，因為眼睛被封住以致看不見，心竅被塞住以致不明白。

但耶和華至今還沒有賜給你們能明白的心、能看見的眼、能聽清的耳。

因耶和華為我們所做的一切，我要述說祂的慈愛和祂可歌可頌的作為，述說祂本著憐憫和大愛賜給以色列人的厚恩。

使他們『看了又看，卻不領悟；聽了又聽，卻不明白，免得他們回心轉意，得到赦免。』」

祂沒有忘記與他們立的約，因祂偉大無比的愛而憐憫他們。

他們忘記了祂的作為，忘記了祂為他們所行的奇事。

祂僕人亞伯拉罕的後裔，祂所揀選的雅各的子孫啊，要記住祂所行的神蹟奇事和祂口中的判詞。

因為你有無限的慈愛，我要進入你的居所，我要滿懷敬畏地向你的聖殿下拜。

上帝啊，求你憐憫我，因為你的慈愛永不改變；求你除去我的過犯，因為你有無限的憐憫。

因此，你們要記住，從前按照肉體來說你們是外族人，那些肉體上受過人手所行割禮的以色列人稱你們為「沒有受過割禮的」。

耶穌知道他們的心思，就說：「你們為什麼議論沒有帶餅的事呢？難道你們還不明白、不領悟嗎？你們的心還是愚頑嗎？你們有眼不會看，有耳不會聽嗎？你們不記得嗎？我掰開五個餅分給五千人吃的時候，你們撿了多少籃的零碎呢？」門徒答道：「十二籃。」耶穌又說：「我用七個餅餵飽四千人的時候，你們撿了多少筐零碎呢？」門徒答道：「七筐。」耶穌接著說：「你們還不明白嗎？」

「你們愚昧人喜愛愚昧，嘲諷者以嘲弄為樂，無知者厭惡知識，要到什麼時候呢？
