懒惰的人哪，你要躺到什么时候呢？你什么时候从睡眠中起来呢？

懶惰人哪，你要睡到幾時呢？你何時睡醒呢？

懶惰的人啊，你要躺到何時？要睡到何時才起床？

懶惰的人哪，你要躺到什麼時候呢？你什麼時候從睡眠中起來呢？

怠惰者歟、偃臥何其久、寢睡何時興、

惟爾懈惰思寢、何時得寤。

怠惰之人、爾偃息將至何時、爾寢臥何時方起、

How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?

You lazy people, how long will you lie there? When will you get up from your sleep?

How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?

But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up?

How long will you stay in bed, you slacker? When will you get up from your sleep?

How long will you lie down, you lazy one? When will you arise from your sleep?

How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep?

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

How long, you sluggard, will you lie there? When will you rise from your sleep?

[ Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:So shall thy poverty come[ as] one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.Therefore let us not sleep, as[ do] others; but let us watch and be sober.For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

Understand, ye brutish among the people: and[ ye] fools, when will ye be wise?

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

And that, knowing the time, that now[ it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now[ is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.
