A worthless and wicked person walks around saying perverse things;

Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.

Scoundrels create trouble; their words are a destructive blaze.

And if they are on the list, they will learn to be lazy and will spend their time gossiping from house to house, meddling in other people’s business and talking about things they shouldn’t.

You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.

Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following.

And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on circumcision for salvation.They must be silenced, because they are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.

Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander.

All who fear the Lord will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech.

For they brag about their evil desires; they praise the greedy and curse the Lord.

Everything they say is crooked and deceitful. They refuse to act wisely or do good.

All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you’re an expert at telling lies.You love evil more than good and lies more than truth. InterludeYou love to destroy others with your words, you liar!

Their mouths are full of cursing, lies, and threats. Trouble and evil are on the tips of their tongues.

The godliness of good people rescues them; the ambition of treacherous people traps them.

Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted.

Their perverted hearts plot evil, and they constantly stir up trouble.

They scoff and speak only evil; in their pride they seek to crush others.They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth.

Listen to the filth that comes from their mouths; their words cut like swords.“ After all, who can hear us?” they sneer.

But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry.“ What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded.“ What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!”

“ But the bad figs,” the Lord said,“ represent King Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, all the people left in Jerusalem, and those who live in Egypt. I will treat them like bad figs, too rotten to eat.I will make them an object of horror and a symbol of evil to every nation on earth. They will be disgraced and mocked, taunted and cursed, wherever I scatter them.And I will send war, famine, and disease until they have vanished from the land of Israel, which I gave to them and their ancestors.”

One basket was filled with fresh, ripe figs, while the other was filled with bad figs that were too rotten to eat.

So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
