lest I be full, deny you, and say,‘ Who is Yahweh?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

恐怕我饱足不认你，说：耶和华是谁呢？又恐怕我贫穷就偷窃，以致亵渎我神的名。

免得我饱足了，就不认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又恐怕我贫穷就偷窃，以致亵渎我上帝的名。

免得我飽足了，就否認你，說：「耶和華是誰呢？」又免得我陷入窮困，就去偷竊，以致干犯了我神的名。

恐我飽飫、而不識爾、謂耶和華為誰、或貧乏而行竊、褻瀆我上帝之名、○

恐富而侈、不崇事耶和華、或貧而盜、妄發誓言。

我若富、恐我飽而不認主、云主為誰、我若貧、恐我盜竊、以致妄稱我天主之名、○

Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say,‘ Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

If you don’t, I might have too much. Then I might say I don’t know you. I might say,‘ Who is the Lord?’ Or I might become poor and steal. Then I would bring shame to the name of my God.

lest I be full and deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Otherwise, I might have too much and deny you, saying,“ Who is the LORD?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

So that I will not be full and deny You and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And that I will not become impoverished and steal, And profane the name of my God.

Lest I be full and deny You, And say,“ Who is the Lord?” Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God.

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

Otherwise, I might have too much and deny You, saying,“ Who is the Lord?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

Lest I be full, and deny[ thee], and say, Who[ is] the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God[ in vain].

lest I become satisfied and act deceptively and say,“ Who is the LORD?” Or lest I become poor and steal and demean the name of my God.

According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.

For when I have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they have eaten and filled themselves, and grown fat, then they will turn to other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant.

“‘“ Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters. She also didn’t strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.They were arrogant, and committed abomination before me. Therefore I took them away when I saw it.

You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land which he has given you.Beware lest you forget Yahweh your God, in not keeping his commandments, his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today;lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses and lived in them;and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

“ If I have made gold my hope, and have said to the fine gold,‘ You are my confidence;’If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;if I have seen the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in splendor,and my heart has been secretly enticed, and my hand threw a kiss from my mouth,this also would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges; for I should have denied the God who is above.

But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked. You have grown fat. You have grown thick. You have become sleek. Then he abandoned God who made him, and rejected the Rock of his salvation.

“ You shall not misuse the name of Yahweh your God, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.

Generation, consider Yahweh’s word. Have I been a wilderness to Israel? Or a land of thick darkness? Why do my people say,‘ We have broken loose. We will come to you no more?’

It shall be, when Yahweh your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and goodly cities which you didn’t build,and houses full of all good things which you didn’t fill, and cisterns dug out which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees which you didn’t plant, and you shall eat and be full;then beware lest you forget Yahweh, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Pharaoh said,“ Who is Yahweh, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know Yahweh, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”

Joshua said to all the people,“ Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all Yahweh’s words which he spoke to us. It shall be therefore a witness against you, lest you deny your God.”

They took fortified cities and a rich land, and possessed houses full of all good things, cisterns dug out, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate, were filled, became fat, and delighted themselves in your great goodness.“ Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against you, cast your law behind their back, killed your prophets that testified against them to turn them again to you, and they committed awful blasphemies.

Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”His servants spoke yet more against Yahweh God, and against his servant Hezekiah.He also wrote letters insulting Yahweh, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying,“ As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”

For the scepter of wickedness won’t remain over the allotment of the righteous; so that the righteous won’t use their hands to do evil.

Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry;but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.

Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul. He takes an oath, but dares not testify.

Then he began to curse and to swear,“ I don’t know the man!” Immediately the rooster crowed.

“‘ If anyone sins, in that he hears a public adjuration to testify, he being a witness, whether he has seen or known, if he doesn’t report it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

The people shouted,“ The voice of a god, and not of a man!”Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory. Then he was eaten by worms and died.

Your renown went out among the nations for your beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put on you,” says the Lord Yahweh.“‘“ But you trusted in your beauty, and played the prostitute because of your renown, and poured out your prostitution on everyone who passed by. It was his.

Again he denied it with an oath,“ I don’t know the man.”

The king spoke and said,“ Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?”

“‘ The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will, and sets up over it the lowest of men.’
