And he answered,“ My Lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said,‘ I will saddle a donkey for myself, that I may ride on it and go to the king,’ because your servant is lame.And he has slandered your servant to my Lord the king, but my Lord the king is like the angel of God. Therefore do what is good in your eyes.

These things also belong to the wise: It is not good to show partiality in judgment.He who says to the wicked,“ You are righteous,” Him the people will curse; Nations will abhor him.

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said,“ I saw the son of Jesse going to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.And he inquired of the Lord for him, gave him provisions, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”

When David was a little past the top of the mountain, there was Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth, who met him with a couple of saddled donkeys, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred clusters of raisins, one hundred summer fruits, and a skin of wine.And the king said to Ziba,“ What do you mean to do with these?” So Ziba said,“ The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for those who are faint in the wilderness to drink.”Then the king said,“ And where is your master’s son?” And Ziba said to the king,“ Indeed he is staying in Jerusalem, for he said,‘ Today the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’”So the king said to Ziba,“ Here, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” And Ziba said,“ I humbly bow before you, that I may find favor in your sight, my Lord, O king!”

Now therefore, please, let my Lord the king hear the words of his servant: If the Lord has stirred you up against me, let Him accept an offering. But if it is the children of men, may they be cursed before the Lord, for they have driven me out this day from sharing in the inheritance of the Lord, saying,‘ Go, serve other gods.’

Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying,‘ The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you.

Also do not take to heart everything people say, Lest you hear your servant cursing you.

Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and accused the Jews.They spoke and said to King Nebuchadnezzar,“ O king, live forever!You, O king, have made a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the gold image;and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. They do not serve your gods or worship the gold image which you have set up.”Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. So they brought these men before the king.Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them,“ Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up?Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?”Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king,“ O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

And the king gave the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions— them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.

The people will curse him who withholds grain, But blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.

He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses.
