While I was still speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and presenting my request before the LORD my God concerning his holy mountain–yes, while I was still praying, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen previously in a vision, was approaching me in my state of extreme weariness, around the time of the evening offering.He spoke with me, instructing me as follows:“ Daniel, I have now come to impart understanding to you.At the beginning of your requests a message went out, and I have come to convey it to you, for you are of great value in God’s sight. Therefore consider the message and understand the vision:

and he was baptizing them in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins.But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them,“ You offspring of vipers! Create for me a pure heart, O God! Renew a resolute spirit within me!

The man said,“ The woman whom you gave me, she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it.”So the LORD God said to the woman,“ What is this you have done?” And the woman replied,“ The serpent tricked me, and I ate.”

The one who forgives an offense seeks love, but whoever repeats a matter separates close friends.

saying,“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said,“ What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”So Judas threw the silver coins into the temple and left. Then he went out and hanged himself.

Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all transgressions.

“ Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full of greed and self- indulgence.Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside may become clean too!“ Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs that look beautiful on the outside but inside are full of the bones of the dead and of everything unclean.In the same way, on the outside you look righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

When Samuel came to him, Saul said to him,“ May the LORD bless you! I have done what the LORD said.”

However, when they confess their iniquity and their ancestors’ iniquity which they committed by trespassing against me, by which they also walked in hostility against me( and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for their iniquity,I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

but I declared to those in Damascus first, and then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

Then the LORD said to Cain,“ Where is your brother Abel?” And he replied,“ I don’t know! Am I my brother’s guardian?”

Saul again replied,“ I have sinned. But please honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel. Go back with me so I may worship the LORD your God.”
