Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!

He is filled with craving all day long, but the righteous give and don’t hold back.

All day long he shows compassion and lends to others, and his children are blessed.

For we never appeared with flattering speech, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed– God is our witness–nor to seek glory from people, either from you or from others,although we could have imposed our weight as apostles of Christ; instead we became little children among you. Like a nursing mother caring for her own children,with such affection for you we were happy to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.For you recall, brothers and sisters, our toil and drudgery: By working night and day so as not to impose a burden on any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.

Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your possessions back from the person who takes them away.Treat others in the same way that you would want them to treat you.“ If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same.And if you lend to those from whom you hope to be repaid, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, so that they may be repaid in full.But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people.Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

He generously gives to the needy; his integrity endures. He will be vindicated and honored.

But as you excel in everything– in faith, in speech, in knowledge, and in all eagerness and in the love from us that is in you– make sure that you excel in this act of kindness too.I am not saying this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others.For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his poverty could become rich.

The one who steals must steal no longer; rather he must labor, doing good with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with the one who has need.

Just as it is written,“ He has scattered widely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.”Now God who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your supply of seed and will cause the harvest of your righteousness to grow.You will be enriched in every way so that you may be generous on every occasion, which is producing through us thanksgiving to God,because the service of this ministry is not only providing for the needs of the saints but is also overflowing with many thanks to God.Through the evidence of this service they will glorify God because of your obedience to your confession in the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your sharing with them and with everyone.And in their prayers on your behalf they long for you because of the extraordinary grace God has shown to you.

Give to the one who asks you, and do not reject the one who wants to borrow from you.

I have desired no one’s silver or gold or clothing.You yourselves know that these hands of mine provided for my needs and the needs of those who were with me.By all these things, I have shown you that by working in this way we must help the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
