Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words,

Wisdom will save you from a woman who commits adultery. It will save you from a sinful woman and her tempting words.

So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words,

Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman.

It will rescue you from a forbidden woman, from a wayward woman with her flattering talk,

To rescue you from the strange woman, From the foreign woman who flatters with her words,

To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words,

To deliver thee from the strange woman, Even from the foreigner that flattereth with her words;

It will rescue you from a forbidden woman, from a stranger with her flattering talk,

To deliver thee from the strange woman,[ even] from the stranger[ which] flattereth with her words;

to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words,

by keeping you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the loose woman.

I discovered this: More bitter than death is the kind of woman who is like a hunter’s snare; her heart is like a hunter’s net and her hands are like prison chains. The man who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is captured by her.

for a prostitute is like a deep pit; a harlot is like a narrow well.

so that they may keep you from the adulterous woman, from the loose woman who flatters you with her words.For at the window of my house through my window lattice I looked outand I saw among the naive– I discerned among the youths– a young man who lacked wisdom.He was passing by the street near her corner, making his way along the road to her housein the twilight, the evening, in the dark of the night.Suddenly a woman came out to meet him! She was dressed like a prostitute and with secret intent.( She is loud and rebellious, she does not remain at home–at one time outside, at another in the wide plazas, and by every corner she lies in wait.)So she grabbed him and kissed him, and with a bold expression she said to him,“ I have fresh meat at home; today I have fulfilled my vows!That is why I came out to meet you, to look for you, and I found you!I have spread my bed with elegant coverings, with richly colored fabric from Egypt.I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.Come, let’s drink deeply of lovemaking until morning, let’s delight ourselves with sexual intercourse.For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a journey of some distance.He has taken a bag of money with him; he will not return until the end of the month.”She persuaded him with persuasive words; with her smooth talk she compelled him.Suddenly he went after her like an ox that goes to the slaughter, like a stag prancing into a trapper’s snaretill an arrow pierces his liver– like a bird hurrying into a trap, and he does not know that it will cost him his life.

His master observed that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made everything he was doing successful.So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal attendant. Potiphar appointed Joseph overseer of his household and put him in charge of everything he owned.From the time Potiphar appointed him over his household and over all that he owned, the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s household for Joseph’s sake. The blessing of the LORD was on everything that he had, both in his house and in his fields.So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; he gave no thought to anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well built and good-looking.Soon after these things, his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said,“ Have sex with me.”But he refused, saying to his master’s wife,“ Look, my master does not give any thought to his household with me here, and everything that he owns he has put into my care.There is no one greater in this household than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you because you are his wife. So how could I do such a great evil and sin against God?”Even though she continued to speak to Joseph day after day, he did not respond to her invitation to have sex with her.One day he went into the house to do his work when none of the household servants were there in the house.She grabbed him by his outer garment, saying,“ Have sex with me!” But he left his outer garment in her hand and ran outside.

The mouth of an adulteress is like a deep pit; the one against whom the LORD is angry will fall into it.

For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her seductive words are smoother than olive oil,but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.Lest she should make level the path leading to life, her paths are unstable but she does not know it.So now, children, listen to me; do not turn aside from the words I speak.Keep yourself far from her, and do not go near the door of her house,lest you give your vigor to others and your years to a cruel person,lest strangers devour your strength, and your labor benefit another man’s house.And at the end of your life you will groan when your flesh and your body are wasted away.And you will say,“ How I hated discipline! My heart spurned reproof!For I did not obey my teachers and I did not heed my instructors.I almost came to complete ruin in the midst of the whole congregation!”Drink water from your own cistern and running water from your own well.Should your springs be dispersed outside, your streams of water in the wide plazas?Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you.May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in your young wife–a loving doe, a graceful deer; may her breasts satisfy you at all times, may you be captivated by her love always.But why should you be captivated, my son, by an adulteress, and embrace the bosom of a different woman?

The one who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his steps.

Was it not because of things like these that King Solomon of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. But the foreign wives made even him sin!Should we then in your case hear that you do all this great evil, thereby being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign wives?”
