若輩離乎正路、行於暗途、

彼離正道、行於幽暗、

彼離正直之道、欲行幽暗之路、

who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,

Men like that have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways.

who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness,

These men turn from the right way to walk down dark paths.

from those who abandon the right paths to walk in ways of darkness,

From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;

Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.

The way of the wicked is like gloomy darkness; they do not know what causes them to stumble.

The one who wanders from the way of wisdom will end up in the company of the departed.

For if after they have escaped the filthy things of the world through the rich knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they again get entangled in them and succumb to them, their last state has become worse for them than their first.For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than, having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment that had been delivered to them.They are illustrations of this true proverb:“ A dog returns to its own vomit,” and“ A sow, after washing herself, wallows in the mire.”

There are those who rebel against the light; they do not know its ways and they do not stay on its paths.Before daybreak the murderer rises up; he kills the poor and the needy; in the night he is like a thief.And the eye of the adulterer watches for the twilight, thinking,‘ No eye can see me,’ and covers his face with a mask.In the dark the robber breaks into houses, but by day they shut themselves in; they do not know the light.

A man came, sent from God, whose name was John.

For although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but they became futile in their thoughts and their senseless hearts were darkened.

For it is impossible in the case of those who have once been enlightened, tasted the heavenly gift, become partakers of the Holy Spirit,tasted the good word of God and the miracles of the coming age,and then have committed apostasy, to renew them again to repentance, since they are crucifying the Son of God for themselves all over again and holding him up to contempt.

“ When an unclean spirit goes out of a person, it passes through waterless places looking for rest but does not find it.Then it says,‘ I will return to the home I left.’ When it returns, it finds the house empty, swept clean, and put in order.Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and live there, so the last state of that person is worse than the first. It will be that way for this evil generation as well!”

When the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came from( though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroomand said to him,“ Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the cheaper wine when the guests are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs, in Cana of Galilee. In this way he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

Everyone rejects God; they are all morally corrupt. None of them does what is right, not even one!

They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble.

“ And you, son of man, say to your people,‘ The righteousness of the righteous will not deliver him if he rebels. As for the wicked, his wickedness will not make him stumble if he turns from it. The righteous will not be able to live by his righteousness if he sins.’Suppose I tell the righteous that he will certainly live, but he becomes confident in his righteousness and commits iniquity. None of his righteous deeds will be remembered; because of the iniquity he has committed he will die.

The words he speaks are sinful and deceitful; he does not care about doing what is wise and right.

When a righteous person turns back from his righteousness and practices wrongdoing, he will die for it; because of the wrongdoing he has done, he will die.

Jesus replied,“ The light is with you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

and those who turn their backs on the LORD and do not want the LORD’s help or guidance.”

For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness.So then we must not sleep as the rest, but must stay alert and sober.For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
