約瑟套車往歌珊去，迎接他父親以色列，及至見了面，就伏在父親的頸項上，哭了許久。以色列對約瑟說：「我既得見你的面，知道你還在，就是死我也甘心。」

我曾把這事寫給你們，恐怕我到的時候，應該叫我快樂的那些人，反倒叫我憂愁。我也深信，你們眾人都以我的快樂為自己的快樂。

他們便將約瑟對他們說的一切話都告訴了他。他們父親雅各又看見約瑟打發來接他的車輛，心就甦醒了。以色列說：「罷了！罷了！我的兒子約瑟還在，趁我未死以先，我要去見他一面。」

以色列對約瑟說：「我想不到得見你的面，不料，神又使我得見你的兒子。」

叫他們最傷心的，就是他說「以後不能再見我的面」那句話，於是送他上船去了。

他很想念你們眾人，並且極其難過，因為你們聽見他病了。他實在是病了，幾乎要死；然而神憐恤他，不但憐恤他，也憐恤我，免得我憂上加憂。
