But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.

For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

Unto Timothy,[ my] own son in the faith: Grace, mercy,[ and] peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which[ I have] in you.

Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next[ day] to Neapolis;And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia,[ and] a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

To Titus,[ mine] own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy,[ and] peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
