as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

You will shine as you hold on tight to the word of life. Then I will be able to boast about you on the day Christ returns. I can be happy that I didn’t run or work for nothing.

The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help! The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

Simon Peter answered him,“ Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

But I thought,“ I have worked in vain; I have expended my energy for absolutely nothing.” But the LORD will vindicate me; my God will reward me.

But what does it say?“ The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”( that is, the word of faith that we preach),because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation.For the scripture says,“ Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on him.For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to them?And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written,“ How timely is the arrival of those who proclaim the good news.”But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says,“ Lord, who has believed our report?”

O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds.

Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed, teaching the message of truth accurately.But avoid profane chatter, because those occupied with it will stray further and further into ungodliness,and their message will spread its infection like gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus are in this group.

so that what you can be proud of may increase because of me in Christ Jesus, when I come back to you.Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ so that– whether I come and see you or whether I remain absent– I should hear that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, by contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,

“ I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before God’s angels.

I went there because of a revelation and presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did so only in a private meeting with the influential people, to make sure that I was not running– or had not run– in vain.

So when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter somehow tempted you and our toil had proven useless.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double- edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.

For who is our hope or joy or crown to boast of before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not of course you?

I have told the great assembly about your justice. Look! I spare no words! O LORD, you know this is true.

Brothers, descendants of Abraham’s family, and those Gentiles among you who fear God, the message of this salvation has been sent to us.

I fear for you that my work for you may have been in vain.

And the Spirit and the bride say,“ Come!” And let the one who hears say:“ Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wants it take the water of life free of charge.

What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light, and what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops.
