as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

You will shine as you hold on tight to the word of life. Then I will be able to boast about you on the day Christ returns. I can be happy that I didn’t run or work for nothing.

Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of truth.But shun profane babblings: for they will proceed further in ungodliness,and their word will eat as doth a gangrene: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus;

that your glorying may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ: that, whether I come and see you or be absent, I may hear of your state, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the gospel;
