While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed,“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

Jesus answered him,“ Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself.

I answered,“ Sir, you know.” And he said,“ These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.Therefore,“ they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.‘ Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat.For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;‘ he will lead them to springs of living water.’‘ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”

because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;I myself will see him with my own eyes— I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!

But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed!

It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.

The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

You know, brothers and sisters, that our visit to you was not without results.

David said to Gad,“ I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into human hands.”

We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.
