好让你们的信仰经过考验，就比那被火炼过仍然会朽坏的金子更加宝贵，能在耶稣基督显现的时候，被看为是可以得着称赞、荣耀和尊贵的。你们虽然没有见过他，却爱他；虽然如今看不到他，却信他，并且怀着无法描述、充满荣耀的喜乐而欢欣跳跃，因为你们正在领受你们信仰的结果，就是灵魂的救恩。

你们要以各样的祷告和祈求，藉着圣灵时刻祈祷；而且为此警醒，以极大的忍耐，为所有圣徒祈求，也为我祈求，好使我在开口的时候被赐予话语，能坦然无惧地让人明白福音的奥秘——

为了这缘故，我派提摩太到你们那里去。他是我在主里又亲爱又忠心的儿子，他会使你们想起我在基督耶稣里的行事为人，正如我在各处、各教会中所教导的。
