然則何如乎、無論或偽或誠、基督是宣、我則樂之、且終樂之、

然則余將若何、凡事不論真偽、有傳基督道者、我樂之、亦終樂之、

然此亦何妨、其意或偽或誠、無論如何、基督究以是而傳矣、我為之而樂、亦必終樂、

雖然、是亦何傷？無論其心意之誠也偽也、其揄揚基督則一；此吾之所為歡欣鼓舞、而不能自已者也。

But Jesus said to him,“ Do not hinder him; for the one who is not against you is for you.”

John said to Him,“ Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.”But Jesus said,“ Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me.For the one who is not against us is for us.

Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

and that most of the brothers and sisters, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from goodwill;the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel;the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking that they are causing me distress in my imprisonment.

What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit, but I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing with the mind also.

“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut the kingdom of heaven in front of people; for you do not enter it yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

But they did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they would not comprehend it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;

who devour widows’ houses, and for appearance’s sake offer long prayers. These will receive all the more condemnation.”
