As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.

我緣基督、陷於縲絏、遍聞營壘、隨在播揚、

蓋我為基督受縲絏、徧聞於御營、以及他處、

蓋予為基督而受縲絏、已為御營內外公認之事。

One thing has become clear. I am being held by chains because I am a witness for Christ. All the palace guards and everyone else know it.

so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ.

For everyone here, including the whole palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ.

so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the praetorian guard and to everyone else,

so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;

so that my bonds became manifest in Christ throughout the whole prætorian guard, and to all the rest;

so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard, and to everyone else, that my imprisonment is in the cause of Christ.

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other[ places];

The whole imperial guard and everyone else knows that I am in prison for the sake of Christ,

so that it became evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ,

for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.

for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him.

After they left the room, they began saying to one another,“ This man is not doing anything that deserves death or imprisonment.”

All God’s people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s household.

Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

Paul replied,“ Short time or long— I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.”

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Three days later he called together the local Jewish leaders. When they had assembled, Paul said to them:“ My brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or against the customs of our ancestors, I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.

Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said,“ The Holy Spirit says,‘ In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.Then Paul answered,“ Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me.However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me— the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia— your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it,for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,
