If we have found favor with you, please let us have this land as our property instead of giving us land across the Jordan River.”

If we have found favor in your eyes,” they said,“ let this land be given to your servants as our possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan.”

We hope you are pleased with us,” they continued.“ If you are, please give us this land. Then it will belong to us. But don’t make us go across the Jordan River.”

And they said,“ If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession. Do not take us across the Jordan.”

They said,“ If we have found favor with you, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Don’t make us cross the Jordan.”

Therefore they said,“ If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not take us over the Jordan.”

And they said, If we have found favor in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession; bring us not over the Jordan.

Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession,[ and] bring us not over Jordan.

So they said,“ If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for our inheritance. Do not have us cross the Jordan River.”

They said,“ If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession. Don’t bring us over the Jordan.”

Then Joshua cried out,“ Oh, Sovereign Lord, why did you bring us across the Jordan River if you are going to let the Amorites kill us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side!

Then David took an oath before Jonathan and said,“ Your father knows perfectly well about our friendship, so he has said to himself,‘ I won’t tell Jonathan— why should I hurt him?’ But I swear to you that I am only a step away from death! I swear it by the Lord and by your own soul!”

Please let me cross the Jordan to see the wonderful land on the other side, the beautiful hill country and the Lebanon mountains.’“ But the Lord was angry with me because of you, and he would not listen to me.‘ That’s enough!’ he declared.‘ Speak of it no more.

Joab bowed with his face to the ground in deep respect and said,“ At last I know that I have gained your approval, my lord the king, for you have granted me this request!”
