按着宗族，迦得的眾子：屬洗分的，有洗分族；屬哈基的，有哈基族；屬書尼的，有書尼族；屬阿斯尼的，有阿斯尼族；屬以利的，有以利族；屬亞律的，有亞律族；屬亞列利的，有亞列利族。這就是迦得子孫的各族；他們被數的共有四萬零五百名。

與亞伯蘭同行的羅得也有牛羣、羊羣、帳棚。

利亞的婢女悉帕為雅各生了一個兒子。利亞給他起名叫迦得，說：「真是幸運！」

以色列的長子是呂便。呂便的眾子：屬哈諾的，有哈諾族；屬法路的，有法路族；屬希斯倫的，有希斯倫族；屬迦米的，有迦米族。這就是呂便的各族；被數的共有四萬三千七百三十名。

我必領以色列回他自己的草場，他要在迦密和巴珊吃草，又在以法蓮山上和基列境內得以飽足。

他們的地界是雅謝和基列的各城，以及亞捫人之地的一半，直到拉巴前面的亞羅珥；

羅得舉目，看見約旦河整個平原，直到瑣珥，都是水源充足之地。在耶和華未毀滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉以前，那地好像耶和華的園子，又像埃及地。於是羅得選擇了約旦河整個平原。羅得往東遷移，他們就彼此分開了。

他們又對法老說：「迦南地的饑荒非常嚴重，僕人的羊羣沒有牧草，所以我們來到這地寄居。現在求你准許僕人住在歌珊地。」

「在南邊，按照他們的隊伍是呂便營的旗幟。呂便人的領袖是示丟珥的兒子以利蓿，他的軍隊被數的有四萬六千五百名。在他旁邊安營的是西緬支派。西緬人的領袖是蘇利沙代的兒子示路蔑，他的軍隊被數的有五萬九千三百名。還有迦得支派，迦得人的領袖是丟珥的兒子以利雅薩，他的軍隊被數的有四萬五千六百五十名。

求你在迦密的樹林中，以你的杖牧放你獨居的民，你產業中的羊羣；願他們像古時一樣，牧放在巴珊和基列。

因為凡世界上的東西，好比肉體的情慾、眼目的情慾和今生的驕傲，都不是從父來的，而是從世界來的。

利亞懷孕生子，給他起名叫呂便，因為她說：「耶和華看見我的苦情，如今我的丈夫必愛我。」

亞伯蘭的牲畜和金銀極多。

又有許多不同族羣的人，以及眾多的羊羣牛羣，和他們一同上去。

他們過約旦河，在迦得谷中、城的右邊亞羅珥安營，與雅謝相對。
