He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the Lord. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in.”

Joshua will stand in front of Eleazar the priest. Eleazar will help him make decisions. Eleazar will get help from me by using the Urim. Joshua and the whole community of Israel must not make any move at all unless I command them to.”

And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.”

When direction from the Lord is needed, Joshua will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will use the Urim— one of the sacred lots cast before the Lord— to determine his will. This is how Joshua and the rest of the community of Israel will determine everything they should do.”

亞希米勒為之問主、給以食物、又以非利士人歌利亞之刀給之、王遣人召祭司亞希突子亞希米勒、與其父之全家、即挪伯諸祭司、咸至王前、掃羅曰、亞希突子須聽、曰、我主、我在此、掃羅謂之曰、爾與耶西子、何為結黨謀攻我耶、爾曾給之以食物與刀、為之問天主、使其伏以害我、即如今日情景、亞希米勒對王曰、在王之眾臣僕中、誰忠如大衛、彼為王壻、常遵王命而行、並在王之家為尊者、我斷無此意、我為之問天主、豈始於此乎、或作我為之問天主豈始於此乎斷乎不然莫以罪歸我與我父之全家、蓋斯事無論大小、僕俱不知、

先以色列人上於主前、哭泣至晚、問於主曰、我復往與同族便雅憫人戰、可否、主曰、可往攻之、

可出入其前、導之往返、免主之會、如羊之無牧、

大衛謂祭司亞希米勒子亞比亞他曰、為我攜以弗得至、亞比亞他攜以弗得至大衛前、

論利未則曰、主之土明烏陵、付於敬主之虔誠人、昔在瑪撒、主嘗試之、在米利巴水、主嘗爭之、

大衛知掃羅蓄謀害己、即謂祭司亞比亞他曰、攜以弗得至此、

以色列人遂起上伯特利、問於天主曰、我儕中誰當先往攻便雅憫人、主曰、猶大人當先往、

約書亞卒後、以色列人問於主曰、誰當為我儕先往、誰當為我儕先往或作我儕中誰當先往攻迦南人而與之戰、

方伯謂之曰、不可食至聖之物、直至有祭司興、用烏陵與土明決疑、用烏陵與土明決疑或作能問烏陵與土明○

以色列眾民上伯特利、坐於主前號哭、是日禁食至晚、獻火焚祭與平安祭於主前、當時天主之約匱在彼、亞倫孫以利亞撒子非尼哈侍於其前、以色列人問於主曰、我復往與同族便雅憫人戰、可乎、或止乎、主曰、往哉、明日我將以之付於爾手、

佩以胸牌、以烏陵土明、置於胸牌之內、
