Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him.

Only be strong and of good courage.”

So it was, when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, that God gave him another heart; and all those signs came to pass that day.

So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said,“ Moses my Lord, forbid them!”Then Moses said to him,“ Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!”

Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”So he said,“ You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”

Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man.

So the Lord exalted Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.

Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.
