既然上帝判决了所多玛和蛾摩拉，将二城倾覆，焚烧成灰，作为后世不敬虔人的鉴戒，

在巴比伦所有被掳的犹大人必藉这二人赌咒说：愿耶和华使你像巴比伦王在火中焚烧的西底家和亚哈一样。

以色列人中的二百五十个领袖，就是有名望、从会众中选出来的人，在摩西面前一同起来，

这些事都是我们的鉴戒，使我们不要贪恋恶事，像他们贪恋过的一样。也不要拜偶像，像他们中有些人曾经拜过。如经上所记：“百姓坐下吃喝，起来玩乐。”我们也不可犯奸淫，像他们中有些人曾经犯过，一天就倒毙了二万三千人。也不可试探主，像他们中有些人曾试探主就被蛇咬死。你们也不可发怨言，像他们中有些人曾经发过，就被毁灭者所灭。
