其民較我強盛、請爾來為我詛之、或可攻而勝之、逐之出境、因我素知爾為誰祝福、誰則得福、爾咒詛誰、誰則受禍、

Come now, curse this people for me, since they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them from the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”

巴兰就作歌，说：“巴勒把我从亚兰领出来，摩押王引我出东山，说：‘来吧，为我咒骂雅各，来啊，咒骂以色列。’神没有咒诅的，我怎能咒诅呢？耶和华没有咒骂的，我怎能咒骂呢？

给你祝福的，我必赐福给他；咒诅你的，我必咒诅他；地上的万族，都必因你得福。”

有一次，我们到祈祷的地方去的时候，一个被巫鬼附着的婢女迎面而来；她行占卜使主人们发了大财。

他爱咒诅，愿咒诅临到他；他不喜爱祝福，愿福乐远离他。他以咒诅当作衣服穿上，咒诅就像水一般进入他的内脏，像油一样进入他的骨头。

有一个人名叫西门，从前在城里行过邪术，使撒玛利亚的居民惊奇，他又自命不凡，城里大大小小都听从他，说：“这就是那称为‘神的大能’的人。”

神对巴兰说：“你不可与他们同去，也不可咒诅那民，因为他们是蒙福的。”

因为你们出埃及的时候，他们没有拿食物和水在路上迎接你们，又因为他们从两河之间的亚兰的毗夺雇了比珥的儿子巴兰，来攻击你，咒诅你。

那时摩押王西拨的儿子巴勒起来攻击以色列人；他派人把比珥的儿子巴兰召了来，咒诅你们。

那非利士人对大卫说：“难道我是一条狗吗？你竟拿杖来攻击我。”于是指着自己的神咒诅大卫。

那去召米该雅的使者对米该雅说：“看哪，这里的众先知都异口同声地对王说吉话，请你与他们一样说吉话。”

继续使用你从幼年时就劳碌施行的符咒和许多的邪术吧！或者你可以得到益处，也许你能叫人战栗。你因你许多的计划而劳累；现在让那些划分天象的，观看星辰的，在月朔时说预言的，都站起来，拯救你脱离要临到你身上的事。

因为我必使你大得尊荣；你向我说什么，我都照办；只求你替我咒诅这民。’”

他们所见的是虚假的异象，是骗人的占卜；他们说：‘这是耶和华的宣告。’其实耶和华并没有差遣他们，他们却希望自己的话能够应验。

以色列王对约沙法说：“还有一个人，我们可以托他求问耶和华。不过我憎恨他，因为他对我说的预言，都是凶话，不是吉话。这人就是音拉的儿子米该雅。”但约沙法说：“请王不要这么说。”

于是以色列王把众先知聚集了来，约有四百人，问他们：“我可以去攻打基列的拉末吗？或是应当忍耐不去呢？”他们说：“你可以上去，主必把那城交在王的手里。”

愿万民服事你，愿万族向你下拜，愿你作你兄弟的主人，愿你母亲的子孙向你下拜。咒诅你的，愿他受咒诅；给你祝福的，愿他蒙福。”

因为他们没有拿食物和水来迎接以色列人，反而雇用了巴兰来与他们作对，咒诅他们；但是我的神使咒诅变为祝福。

任凭他们咒诅，只愿你赐福；愿起来攻击我的都蒙羞，你的仆人却要欢喜。

麻雀怎样飞来飞去，燕子怎样翻飞；照样，无故的咒诅也不会临到人。
