他们有祸了！因为走了该隐的道路，又为利往巴兰的错谬里直奔，并在可拉的背叛中灭亡了。

然而，有几件事我要责备你：因为在你那里有人服从了巴兰的教训；这巴兰曾教导巴勒将绊脚石放在以色列人面前，叫他们吃祭偶像之物，行奸淫的事。

那时以色列人在所杀的人中，也用刀杀了比珥的儿子术士巴兰。

巴兰便题起诗歌说：“巴勒引我出亚兰，摩押王引我出东山，说：‘来啊，为我咒诅雅各；来啊，怒骂以色列。’

我也要使你的后裔如同地上的尘沙那样多，人若能数算地上的尘沙才能数算你的后裔。

耶和华使他的百姓生养众多，使他们比敌人强盛，

他们离弃正路，就走差了，随从比珥之子巴兰的路。巴兰就是那贪爱不义之工价的先知，他却为自己的过犯受了责备；那不能说话的驴以人言拦阻先知的狂妄。

当日，人念摩西的律法书给百姓听，遇见书上写着说，亚扪人和摩押人永不可入神的会；因为他们没有拿食物和水来迎接以色列人，且雇了巴兰咒诅他们，但我们的神使那咒诅变为祝福。

以色列人生养众多，并且繁茂，极其强盛，满了那地。有不认识约瑟的新王起来，治理埃及，对他的百姓说：“看哪，这以色列民比我们还多，又比我们强盛。来吧，我们不如用巧计待他们，恐怕他们多起来，日后若遇什么争战的事，就连合我们的仇敌攻击我们，离开这地去了。”
