人若賺得全世界，卻喪失自己的生命，又有什麼益處呢？人還能拿什麼換回自己的生命呢？

巴勒就照巴蘭的話做了。他們二人在每座壇上獻上一頭公牛和一隻公綿羊，巴蘭對巴勒說：「你留在燔祭旁邊，我到前面去，也許耶和華會來見我。無論祂有什麼指示，我必告訴你。」

就起誓答應她無論要什麼都可以。

服侍王的太監哈波拿說：「哈曼為那救駕有功的末底改做了一個二十三米高的木架，如今正立在哈曼家裡。」王說：「把哈曼吊在上面！」

他們比我強大，求你為我咒詛他們。這樣，我也許就能擊敗他們，把他們趕走。我知道你祝福誰，誰就蒙福；你咒詛誰，誰就遭禍。」

巴蘭對巴勒說：「你在這裡為我築七座祭壇，預備七頭公牛和七隻公綿羊。」巴勒就照巴蘭的話在每座祭壇上獻了一頭公牛和一隻公綿羊。

「從收割那天開始算起，你們要算出七週的時間。

魔鬼再帶耶穌到一座極高的山上，把世上萬國及其榮華富貴展示給祂看，說：「如果你俯伏敬拜我，我就把這一切都給你。」

巴勒對巴蘭說：「上次派人請你，你為何不肯來？難道我不能給你重賞嗎？」

向他們誇耀自己的榮華富貴和兒孫滿堂，以及王怎樣擢升他，使他位極人臣。
