They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;

摩西這樣告訴以色列人，以色列人卻因了心裏着急、又因了很難作的苦工、不肯聽摩西的話。

以色列人從何珥山往前行，就在撒摩拿紮營。

你們為甚麼使以色列人灰心喪膽、不過去得永恆主所賜給他們的地呢？

他們上去、到以實各谿谷、去看那地，便使以色列人灰心喪膽、不進去得永恆主所賜給他們的地。

如今亞瑪力人和迦南人既住在山谷中，明天你們要轉身，按到蘆葦海的路向往前行、到曠野去。』

不要去惹他們；他們的地、連腳掌可踏的地方、我都不給你們，因為我已將西珥山賜給以掃為基業。你們要用銀子向他們糴糧食喫，也要用銀子向他們買水喝。因為永恆主你的上帝在你手所作的一切事上已賜福與你；你怎樣走這大曠野、他都知道；這四十年永恆主你的上帝都與你同在；你一無所缺。」於是我們往前進、離開了住西珥的族弟兄以掃的子孫；由亞拉巴的路向、離了以拉他和以旬迦別。『我們便轉身，按摩押野地的路向前進。

摩西照永恆主所吩咐的行；三人當着全會眾眼前上了何珥山。

以東對以色列說：『你不可從我這裏經過，免得我帶刀出去對你接戰。』以色列人對他說：『我們要從大路上去；我和我的牲畜若喝你的水，總要給價值；沒有別事，我只要步行過去罷了。』以東說：『你不可經過。』以東就率領重兵出來，要用強硬的手對付以色列。這樣以東既不肯給以色列從他的地界經過，以色列就轉了方向、離開他們。以色列人全會眾從加低斯往前行，到了何珥山。永恆主在附近以東地的邊界何珥山對摩西、亞倫說：

免得有人在這些患難中被誘動；因為你們自己也知道，我們是被派定而受苦的。我們在你們那裏的時候，就屢次先告訴你們說、我們將會受患難；事實正如所說的，你們也知道。

堅固門徒的心，鼓勵他們要堅守信仰。又說我們要進上帝的國、經由許多苦難是必須的。』

至於你們呢、你們可要轉身，按到蘆葦海的路向往前行到曠野去。」
