人民與摩西爭鬧，說：“但願我們的兄弟在耶和華面前死去的時候，我們也一同死去！

They quarreled with Moses and said,“ If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the Lord!

The people blamed Moses and said,“ If only we had died in the Lord’s presence with our brothers!

因此人民與摩西爭吵，說：“給我們水喝吧。”摩西對他們說：“你們為甚麼與我爭吵呢？你們為甚麼試探耶和華呢？”

摩西說完了這一切話，他們腳下的地就裂開。地開了口，把他們和他們的家眷，以及一切屬可拉的人和財物，都吞了下去。這樣，他們和一切屬他們的，都活活地下到陰間，地在他們上面合閉，他們就從會眾中滅亡了。在他們四周的以色列眾人，聽見他們的呼叫，就都逃跑，說：“恐怕地也把我們吞下去。”又有火從耶和華那裡出來，把那獻香的二百五十個人吞滅了。

當時，全體會眾大聲喧嚷；那夜眾民都哭號。以色列人向摩西和亞倫發怨言；全體會眾都對他們說：“但願我們早死在埃及地，或死在這曠野。

除了因可拉事件死亡的以外，因瘟疫死亡的有一萬四千七百人。

人民發怨言，惡聲達到耶和華的耳中；耶和華聽見了，就發烈怒；耶和華的火就在他們中間焚燒，燒毀了營地的邊界。

摩西派去窺探那地的人回來，因為帶回有關那地的惡信，以致全體會眾都向摩西發怨言，這些帶回有關那地的惡信的人，都遭受瘟疫死在耶和華面前。

肉在他們牙齒之間，還沒有嚼爛，耶和華的怒氣就向人民發作，用極重的災禍擊打他們。於是那地方名叫基博羅．哈他瓦，因為他們在那裡埋葬起了貪慾的人。

以色列全體會眾在曠野都向摩西和亞倫發怨言；以色列人對他們說：“我們寧願在埃及地坐在肉鍋旁邊，吃飯吃到飽的時候，死在耶和華的手裡！你們倒把我們領出來，到這曠野，是要叫這全體會眾餓死啊！”

因為那夜沒有把我母胎的門關閉，也沒有把苦難隱藏，使我看不見。我為甚麼不一離母胎就死去？我為甚麼不一出母腹就斷氣？

那些死於刀下的比餓死的還好；餓死的因缺乏田間的出產，就日漸消瘦而死亡。
