人民与摩西争闹，说：“但愿我们的兄弟在耶和华面前死去的时候，我们也一同死去！

They quarreled with Moses and said,“ If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the Lord!

因此人民与摩西争吵，说：“给我们水喝吧。”摩西对他们说：“你们为什么与我争吵呢？你们为什么试探耶和华呢？”

摩西说完了这一切话，他们脚下的地就裂开。地开了口，把他们和他们的家眷，以及一切属可拉的人和财物，都吞了下去。这样，他们和一切属他们的，都活活地下到阴间，地在他们上面合闭，他们就从会众中灭亡了。在他们四周的以色列众人，听见他们的呼叫，就都逃跑，说：“恐怕地也把我们吞下去。”又有火从耶和华那里出来，把那献香的二百五十个人吞灭了。

当时，全体会众大声喧嚷；那夜众民都哭号。以色列人向摩西和亚伦发怨言；全体会众都对他们说：“但愿我们早死在埃及地，或死在这旷野。

除了因可拉事件死亡的以外，因瘟疫死亡的有一万四千七百人。

人民发怨言，恶声达到耶和华的耳中；耶和华听见了，就发烈怒；耶和华的火就在他们中间焚烧，烧毁了营地的边界。

摩西派去窥探那地的人回来，因为带回有关那地的恶信，以致全体会众都向摩西发怨言，这些带回有关那地的恶信的人，都遭受瘟疫死在耶和华面前。

肉在他们牙齿之间，还没有嚼烂，耶和华的怒气就向人民发作，用极重的灾祸击打他们。于是那地方名叫基博罗．哈他瓦，因为他们在那里埋葬起了贪欲的人。

以色列全体会众在旷野都向摩西和亚伦发怨言；以色列人对他们说：“我们宁愿在埃及地坐在肉锅旁边，吃饭吃到饱的时候，死在耶和华的手里！你们倒把我们领出来，到这旷野，是要叫这全体会众饿死啊！”

因为那夜没有把我母胎的门关闭，也没有把苦难隐藏，使我看不见。我为什么不一离母胎就死去？我为什么不一出母腹就断气？

那些死于刀下的比饿死的还好；饿死的因缺乏田间的出产，就日渐消瘦而死亡。
