And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying:“ This is what your brother Israel says: You know about all the hardships that have come on us.

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom. The messengers said,“ The nation of Israel is your brother. They say,‘ You know about all the hard times we’ve had.

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom:“ Thus says your brother Israel: You know all the hardship that we have met:

While Moses was at Kadesh, he sent ambassadors to the king of Edom with this message:“ This is what your relatives, the people of Israel, say: You know all the hardships we have been through.

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom,“ This is what your brother Israel says,‘ You know all the hardships that have overtaken us.

From Kadesh Moses then sent messengers to the king of Edom to say,“ This is what your brother Israel has said:‘ You know all the hardship that has overtaken us;

Now Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom.“ Thus says your brother Israel:‘ You know all the hardship that has befallen us,

But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken[ thereto]. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not[ consent]: and Israel abode in Kadesh.

Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he[ is] thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.

And command thou the people, saying, Ye[ are] to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau[ for] a possession.Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God[ hath been] with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land[ for] a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot[ for] a possession.The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.Now rise up,[ said I], and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,That the LORD spake unto me, saying,Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:And[ when] thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon[ any] possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot[ for] a possession.( That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim,[ even] unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess[ it], and contend with him in battle.This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations[ that are] under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:

And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake,[ and] all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and[ how] the LORD delivered them.

And these[ are] the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city[ was] Dinhabah.And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead.And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city[ was] Avith.And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth[ by] the river reigned in his stead.And Saul died, and Baalhanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.And Baalhanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city[ was] Pau; and his wife’s name[ was] Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us?[ Was] not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

For[ thy] violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou[ wast] as one of them.But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
