緣其欺我、故我所誓、錫厥祖之地、彼不能覯止、

必不得見我所誓賜其列祖之地、凡棄我者、皆不得見之、

not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

『從埃及出來、二十歲以上的人都看不到我起誓要賜給亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的土地，因為他們沒有全心全意地跟從我；

其中沒有一個是摩西和祭司亞倫從前在西奈曠野登記的人。

我在曠野曾向他們發誓，不帶他們進入我賜給他們的那奶蜜之鄉，那世上最佳美的地方，

『這邪惡的一代沒有一人能看見我起誓要賜給他們祖先的佳美之地，只有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒能看見，我必把他所踏之地賜給他和他的後代，因為他全心全意地跟從我。』因為你們的緣故，耶和華也向我發怒，說，『你也不能進入那片土地，但你的助手——嫩的兒子約書亞可以進入。你要鼓勵他，因為他將帶領以色列承受那片土地。你們說你們的子女會被擄去，但這些還不知善惡的孩子都將進入那片土地，我要把那裡賜給他們，他們將佔領那裡。而你們要掉頭，沿紅海的路回到曠野。』「於是，你們對我說，『我們得罪了耶和華，現在我們願意遵從我們的上帝耶和華的吩咐，上去作戰。』你們便各自拿起兵器，以為可以輕易攻佔山區。但耶和華讓我告訴你們，『不要上去作戰，以免被敵人擊敗，因為耶和華不會與你們同在。』我把耶和華的話轉告了你們，但你們不聽，違背耶和華的命令，擅自前往山區。住在山區的亞摩利人蜂擁出擊，打敗了你們，從西珥追殺你們，一直追到何珥瑪。你們回來在耶和華面前哭泣，但耶和華不理會你們的哭聲。

四十年之久惹上帝發怒的是誰呢？不就是那些犯罪作惡並倒斃在曠野的人嗎？上帝起誓不准誰進入祂的安息呢？不就是那些不肯信從的人嗎？

因此我在怒中起誓說，『他們絕不可進入我的安息！』」

因此，祂舉手起誓要使他們倒斃在曠野，

正如上帝曾說：「我在憤怒中起誓說，『他們絕不可進入我的安息。』」但我們這些已經信的人能夠進入祂的安息。其實造物之工自創世以來就已經完成了，

你使他們的子孫多如天上的星星，你帶領他們進入你應許他們祖先的土地。
