“以色列人啊，你们要听！今天你们要过约旦河，去赶出那些比你们强大的民族。他们住在城墙高耸入云的大城里，是长得高大威猛的亚衲人。你们了解他们，也听人说过，‘谁能抵挡亚衲人呢？’

我们怎能上去呢？那些弟兄的报告令我们胆战心惊，他们说那里的人比我们高大，城邑雄伟，城墙高达云霄，还有亚衲人在那里。’

我们在那里看见了亚衲人的子孙，他们是巨人的后裔，我们跟他们相比就像蚱蜢，他们看我们也像蚱蜢。”

“从前以米人住在亚珥，他们人数众多，像亚衲人一样身材高大。以米人同亚衲人一样也被称为利乏音人，但摩押人称他们为以米人。

迦勒赶走了住在那里的亚衲族的三个族长，即示筛、亚希幔和挞买，

这些城邑围墙高耸，门闩牢固。我们还占领了许多没有城墙的乡村。

除了在迦萨、迦特和亚实突有一些残余之外，以色列境内没有亚衲人了。

利乏音族人数众多，像亚衲人一样身材高大。耶和华消灭了他们，让亚扪人占领他们的土地，住在那里。

他们经南地到达希伯仑。希伯仑城比埃及的锁安城还要早建七年，那里住着亚衲人的子孙亚希幔、示筛和挞买。他们来到以实各谷，在那里砍下一根葡萄枝，上面有一串葡萄，由两个人用杠子抬着，又采了一些石榴和无花果。

照摩西的吩咐，迦勒得到了希伯仑。他把亚衲三族的人从那里赶走。
