耶和華囑咐嫩的兒子約書亞說：「你當剛強壯膽，因為你必領以色列人進我所起誓應許他們的地；我必與你同在。」

我必在美好的草場牧養牠們。牠們的圈必在以色列高處的山上，牠們必在佳美之圈中躺臥，也在以色列山肥美的草場吃草。

他們得了堅固的城邑、肥美的地土、充滿各樣美物的房屋、鑿成的水井、葡萄園、橄欖園，並許多果木樹。他們就吃而得飽，身體肥胖，因你的大恩，心中快樂。

他們在本國裏沾你大恩的時候，在你所賜給他們這廣大肥美之地上不事奉你，也不轉離他們的惡行。

耶利哥王打發人去見喇合說：「那來到你這裏、進了你家的人要交出來，因為他們來窺探全地。」

二人到山上，在那裏住了三天，等着追趕的人回去了。追趕的人一路找他們，卻找不着。二人就下山回來，過了河，到嫩的兒子約書亞那裏，向他述說所遭遇的一切事；

你當剛強壯膽！因為你必使這百姓承受那地為業，就是我向他們列祖起誓應許賜給他們的地。

哀哉！我好像夏天的果子已被收盡，又像摘了葡萄所剩下的，沒有一掛可吃的；我心羨慕初熟的無花果。

他們到了以實各谷，從那裏砍了葡萄樹的一枝，上頭有一掛葡萄，兩個人用槓擡着，又帶了些石榴和無花果來。（因為以色列人從那裏砍來的那掛葡萄，所以那地方叫做以實各谷。）

我豈沒有吩咐你嗎？你當剛強壯膽！不要懼怕，也不要驚惶；因為你無論往哪裏去，耶和華－你的神必與你同在。」

他們手裏拿着那地的果子下來，到我們那裏，回報說：『耶和華－我們的神所賜給我們的是美地。』

所以我們可以放膽說：主是幫助我的，我必不懼怕；人能把我怎麼樣呢？

你們當剛強壯膽，不要害怕，也不要畏懼他們，因為耶和華－你的神和你同去。他必不撇下你，也不丟棄你。」摩西召了約書亞來，在以色列眾人眼前對他說：「你當剛強壯膽！因為，你要和這百姓一同進入耶和華向他們列祖起誓應許所賜之地；你也要使他們承受那地為業。耶和華必在你前面行；他必與你同在，必不撇下你，也不丟棄你。不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。」

我兒啊，現今願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，照他指着你說的話，建造耶和華－你神的殿。

迦勒在摩西面前安撫百姓，說：「我們立刻上去得那地吧！我們足能得勝。」但那些和他同去的人說：「我們不能上去攻擊那民，因為他們比我們強壯。」
