第二年的二月二十日，雲彩從安放約櫃的聖幕上升起，

「只有祭司一家可以吃聖物，在祭司家中寄居的或做雇工的都不可吃，但出生在祭司家裡或用錢買來的奴隸都可以吃。如果祭司的女兒嫁給本族以外的人，她便不可再吃舉祭。如果祭司的女兒守寡或被休，無兒無女，又像年輕時回到父親家居住，便可以吃父親的食物。除此以外，不屬於祭司家的人都不可以吃。

然後，聖幕被拆下，革順和米拉利的子孫抬著聖幕出發。隨後出發的是呂便旗下的營隊，率領呂便支派的是示丟珥的兒子以利蘇，率領西緬支派的是蘇利沙代的兒子示路蔑，率領迦得支派的是丟珥的兒子以利雅薩。隨後出發的是哥轄人，他們抬著聖物前行。在他們到達之前，聖幕應已支好。

讓以色列人引以為戒，使亞倫子孫以外的人不致到耶和華面前燒香，以免像可拉及其同夥一樣滅亡。這是按照耶和華藉摩西的吩咐做的。
