我又下令你要協助這些猶大人的長老重建神的殿，你要作這事：從河西那邊交給王庫的稅收中，撥出充足的經費給他們，免得工程停頓。

所以你必在飢餓、乾渴、赤身露體和缺乏之中，去事奉耶和華派來攻擊你的仇敵；他必把鐵軛放在你的頸項上，直到把你消滅。

我要你們知道，凡是祭司、利未人、歌唱的、守門的，作殿役的和在這神的殿裡作僕人的，都不可以向他們徵收稅款、貢物和糧食。

我向你們變臉，你們就敗在仇敵面前；恨惡你們的要管轄你們；雖然沒有人追趕，你們仍然逃跑。

你栽種修理葡萄園，必不得收葡萄，也不得喝葡萄酒，因為蟲子把它吃盡了。

現在奏知大王：如果這城建成，牆垣築好，他們就不再繳稅、進貢和納糧，王的國庫收入必定受損。

我對他們說：“我們已盡了我們的能力，把那些賣了給外族人的同胞猶大人買贖回來，而你們還想要出賣你們的同胞，好讓我們再把他們買回來嗎？”他們都默不作聲，無話可說。
