For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing, their clothes did not wear out nor did their feet become swollen.

少壯獅子有時還缺食挨餓，但尋求耶和華的，甚麼好處都不缺。

以色列人吃嗎哪共四十年，直到進了有人居住的地方為止；他們吃嗎哪，直到進入迦南地的邊界為止。

你們的兒女必在曠野飄流四十年，擔當你們背信之罪，直到你們的屍體在曠野都滅盡了。照著你們窺探那地的日數共四十天，一天算一年，你們要擔當罪孽四十年，你們就知道我為甚麼與你們作對。’

又在曠野容忍（“容忍”有些抄本作“養育”）他們，約有四十年之久；

你也要記念耶和華你的神這四十年在曠野引導你的一切路程，為要使你受苦，要試煉你，要知道你心裡怎樣，看看你肯守他的誡命不肯。

以色列家啊！你們在曠野四十年，有獻燔祭和素祭給我嗎？

我在曠野四十年之久領導你們；你們身上的衣服沒有穿破，腳上的鞋也沒有穿壞。
