“ Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.

“ Because you loved them so much, you didn’t leave them in the desert. During the day the pillar of cloud didn’t stop guiding them on their path. At night the pillar of fire didn’t stop shining on the way you wanted them to go.

you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, nor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go.

“ But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night.

you did not abandon them in the wilderness because of your great compassion. During the day the pillar of cloud never turned away from them, guiding them on their journey. And during the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go.

Yet in Your manifold mercies You did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day, To lead them on the road; Nor the pillar of fire by night, To show them light, And the way they should go.

所以你把他們交在敵人的手中，好讓他們受困苦；他們受困苦的時候，就向你呼求，你就從天上垂聽，按著你豐盛的憐憫，賜給他們拯救者，拯救他們脫離敵人的手。

日間你用雲柱引導他們，夜間用火柱光照他們要行的路。

他為他們的緣故記念他自己的約，照著他豐盛的慈愛回心轉意。

耶和華在他們前面行，日間用雲柱領他們的路，夜間用火柱光照他們，使他們日夜都可以行走。日間雲柱，夜間火柱，都不離開眾民的面前。

弟兄們，我不願意你們不知道，我們的祖宗都曾經在雲下，都曾經從海中經過，都曾經在雲裡在海裡受洗歸於摩西。

在豎立帳幕的那一天，有雲彩遮蓋著帳幕，就是法櫃的帳幕；到了晚上，雲彩在帳幕上，形狀像火，直到早晨。常常是這樣：白天（《馬索拉文本》無“白天”，現參照各古譯本補上）有雲彩遮蓋帳幕，夜間雲彩形狀像火。雲彩甚麼時候從會幕上收去，以色列人就起行；雲彩在甚麼地方停住，以色列人就在那裡安營。以色列人照著耶和華的吩咐起行，也照著耶和華的吩咐安營；雲彩在帳幕上停留多久，他們就安營多久。如果雲彩多日停留在帳幕上，以色列人就遵守耶和華的吩咐，不起行。有時雲彩停留在帳幕上只有幾天，他們就照著耶和華的吩咐安營；也照著耶和華的吩咐起行。有時雲彩從晚上到早晨停住；到了早晨，雲彩一收上去，他們就起行；有時雲彩從白晝到晚上都停住；雲彩一收上去，他們就起行。雲彩停留在帳幕上不論有多久，或兩天、或一月、或一年，以色列人就安營，不起行；雲彩一收上去，他們就起行。

然而我為了我名的緣故沒有這樣作，免得我的名在列國的人眼中被褻瀆；我曾在他們眼前把以色列人領出來。

我們的列祖在埃及的時候，不明白你的奇事，也不記念你豐盛的慈愛，反倒在紅海的海邊悖逆了你。但他因自己的名的緣故拯救他們，為要彰顯他的大能。

埃及人也必告訴那地的居民。那地的居民也曾聽見你耶和華是在這人民中間，你耶和華曾面對面的向人顯現，你的雲彩常停在他們上面；日間你在雲柱中，夜間你在火柱中，走在他們前面。

然而我為了我名的緣故縮手，沒有這樣作，免得我名在列國的人眼中被褻瀆；我曾在他們眼前把以色列人領出來。

我的神啊！求你側耳而聽，睜眼垂顧我們的荒涼，和那稱為你名下的城；因為我們向你懇求，並不是因著自己的義，而是因著你的大憐憫。

雅各和以色列啊！要記念這些話，因為你是我的僕人。我造了你，是要你作我的僕人；以色列啊！你必不會被我忘記。

然後，耶和華必在錫安全山之上，並會眾之上，在日間創造雲和煙，夜間創造有火燄的光亮，因為在一切榮耀之上，必有遮蓋。也必有亭子，日間可以使人得陰涼、避炎熱，也可以作避難時藏身之所，或作躲避狂風暴雨之處。

因為以色列人所有的旅程中，日間有耶和華的雲彩在帳幕上，夜間雲中有火，顯在以色列全家的眼前。

萬軍之耶和華說：“因為我耶和華是不改變的，所以你們雅各的子孫也不會滅沒。

耶和華為了自己的大名的緣故，必不丟棄他的子民，因為他喜歡使你們作他的子民。

耶和華的慈愛永不斷絕，他的憐憫永不止息。

雖然我們背叛了主我們的神，他仍是滿有憐憫和饒恕。

然而因你豐富的憐憫，你不把他們滅盡，也不撇棄他們，因為你是有恩典有憐憫的神。
