Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

有數族長、為建殿宇輸貲、方伯輸金一千達利克、達利克金圓名一達利克約銀六兩又獻盂五十、祭司之禮衣五百三十襲、

方伯謂之曰、不可食至聖之物、直至有祭司興、用烏陵與土明決疑、用烏陵與土明決疑或作能問烏陵與土明○

七月朔日、祭司以斯拉攜律法書、至諸男女凡聽而能知之者會眾前、

在彼在主前食之食之或作以祭肉筵宴且與眷屬可欣喜歡樂、因所為之事、蒙主爾之天主賜福也、或作在彼在主爾之天主前爾與眷屬依主爾之天主於爾所為之事賜爾之福筵宴歡樂

爾與子女奴婢、及居爾邑中在爾間無分無業之利未人、俱喜樂於主爾天主之前、

哭有時、笑有時、哀有時、躍有時、

我儕因此諸事、立盟約、書於册、我之牧伯、利未人、祭司、皆鈐名、

守節期之時、爾與子女奴婢、及居於爾邑之利未人、客旅孤寡、俱必歡樂、七日間當守節期在主爾天主前、於主所選之處、爾之物產、爾之操作、既蒙主爾天主賜福、則必欣喜歡樂、

爾告以色列人云、七月朔、爾當守為安息日、當有聖會、吹角為記、

爾與子女奴婢、與居爾邑之利未人、及居於爾中之孤寡、俱可於主爾天主所選為其名所在之處、歡樂於主爾之天主前、

方伯謂之曰、不可食至聖之物、直至有祭司興、用烏陵與土明決疑、用烏陵與土明決疑或作能問烏陵與土明○

七月朔、當有聖會、無論何工、悉毋作、當守為吹角之日、用牡犢一、牡綿羊一、未盈歲之羔七、皆須無疵、獻於主為火焚祭、為馨香、又用和油細麵、配為素祭、為牛用伊法十分之三、為羊用伊法十分之二、為七羔、各羔用伊法十分之一、更獻牡山羊一、為贖罪祭、為爾贖罪、以上即在月朔及每日恆獻火焚祭與素祭之外、所當獻於主馨香之火祭、亦必循常例奠酒、○

昔我無律法而生、誡至、罪生而我死、

祭司以斯拉為文士、洞明主所諭以色列人之誡命、律例、亞達薛西王賜之以詔、其畧如左、

賜華冠於郇邑悲哀之民、以代灰塵、賜喜樂之膏、以代悲哀、賜華服、以代煩惱、俾得稱為蒙福者、蒙福者或作有義者發旺若橡樹、被主栽培、彰顯主之榮、

此聖物、居喪之時、我未食之、為不潔之事、我未取之、為葬死者用、我未予之、我聽從主我天主之命、循主所諭我而行、

教誨以色列人之利未人、潔己潔己或作區別為聖以奉事主者、王諭之曰、以色列王大衛子所羅門所建之殿、爾曹將聖匱置於其中、不復以肩舁之、今當專奉事主爾之天主、服事其民以色列、

耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅民、亞谷、沙比太、何第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難、毘萊雅、與利未人皆訓民、使明律法之意、民咸立於其所、朗誦天主律法之書、解說其義、使民洞悉所誦者、

利未人以主之善道訓民、希西家慰勞之、民獻平安祭、食節期之祭肉、又在主其列祖之天主前、自陳己過、歷七日、

聞我指此處與其居民所言、曰、此處必為荒墟、居民必受咒詛、爾則中心敬服、於我前自卑、裂衣、哭於我前、故我俯聽爾、使爾平康歸爾列祖、歸爾墓中、我所將降於此處之諸災、不使爾目睹之、此乃主所言、使者返、復言於王、

今我喜、非因爾憂、乃因爾憂而生悔、蓋爾憂遵天主之旨而憂、則不致因我而有損、遵天主旨而憂、生悔改無有後悔者、以致得救、若從世俗而憂、則致死矣、試觀爾遵天主之旨而憂、生何等之殷勤、自訴、忿懥、恐懼、思慕、熱心、譴責、以此一切、自表於此事為潔、

我民因無知滅亡、惟爾為祭司者、厭棄知識、故我厭棄爾、不容爾於我前為祭司、爾既忘爾天主之律法、我亦必忘爾之子女、

以上所載諸人、皆與約薩達孫耶書亞子約雅金、與方伯尼希米、並為祭司之文士以斯拉同時、○

王聞律法書之言、自裂其衣、

故無人由遵行律法、得稱義於天主前、蓋由律法可知罪耳、○

昔以色列人不尊崇真天主、無祭司訓誨、無律法、為日已久、

爾更行斯惡、使人淚沾濡主之祭臺、在祭臺旁涕泣號哭、以致主不垂顧所獻者、不悅納禮物於爾手、

王聞律法之言、自裂其衣、

爾往為我、為以色列及猶大之餘民、因此書之言、問於主、我列祖不守主之言、不遵此書所載而行、主必向我大震烈怒、
