Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

Nehemiah was the governor. Ezra was a priest and the teacher of the Law. They spoke up. So did the Levites who were teaching the people. All these men said to the people,“ This day is set apart to honor the Lord your God. So don’t weep. Don’t be sad.” All the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law.

Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were interpreting for the people said to them,“ Don’t mourn or weep on such a day as this! For today is a sacred day before the Lord your God.” For the people had all been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

有些族長為了這工程而捐獻；省長捐給庫房金子八公斤、碗五十個和祭司的禮服五百三十件；

省長告訴他們不可吃至聖之物，直等到有能用烏陵和土明來決疑的祭司興起來。

七月初一日，以斯拉祭司把律法書帶到所有聽了能明白的男女會眾面前。

在那裡，就是在耶和華你們的神面前，你們和你們的家人都可以吃；並且要因你們手所作的一切事，都蒙耶和華你的神賜福而歡樂。

你們和你們的兒女、僕婢，以及住在你們城裡的利未人，都要在耶和華你們的神面前歡樂，因為利未人在你們中間無分無業。

哭有時，笑有時；哀慟有時，踴躍有時；

在上面蓋印的是：哈迦利亞的兒子省長尼希米，還有西底家；（本節在《馬索拉文本》為10:2）

在這節期以內，你和你的兒女、僕婢，以及住在你城裡的利未人、寄居者、孤兒和寡婦，都要歡樂。你要在耶和華選擇的地方，向耶和華你的神守節七日，因為耶和華你的神，要在你一切土產上，和你手所作的一切事上，賜福給你，你就滿有歡樂。

“你要告訴以色列人：七月初一，你們必須完全休歇，要吹號筒作記念，應當有聖會。

你和你的兒女、僕婢，以及在你城裡的利未人、在你們中間的寄居者、孤兒和寡婦，都要在耶和華你的神選擇作他名的居所的地方歡樂。

省長告訴他們不可吃至聖之物，直等到有能用烏陵和土明來決疑的祭司興起來。

“‘七月第一日，你們要有聖會；甚麼勞碌的工都不可作。這是你們吹角的日子。你們要把燔祭作馨香的祭獻給耶和華，就是一頭公牛犢、一隻公綿羊、七隻一歲沒有殘疾的公羊羔。同獻的素祭，是用油調和的細麵，為每頭公牛要獻上三公斤；為每隻公綿羊要獻上兩公斤；為那七隻公羊羔，每隻要獻一公斤；還要獻一隻公山羊作贖罪祭，為你們贖罪；在月初的燔祭和同獻的素祭、常獻的燔祭和同獻的素祭，以及照例同獻的奠祭以外，還要獻上這些給耶和華作馨香的火祭。

在沒有律法的時候，我是活的；但誡命一來，罪就活了，我就死了。

亞達薛西王頒發諭旨給以斯拉；以斯拉是一位祭司和經學家，精通耶和華的誡命和賜給以色列之律例；諭旨內容是這樣：

為錫安悲哀的人穿上裝飾，賜給他們華冠代替灰塵，喜樂油代替悲哀，讚美衣代替沮喪的靈，他們必稱為公義的橡樹，是耶和華栽種的，好使他自己得著榮耀。

我守喪的時候，沒有吃這聖物；我不潔的時候，沒有把它除去，也沒有把它送給死人；我聽從了耶和華我的神的話，都照著你吩咐我的一切行了。

他又對那些教導以色列眾人，分別為聖歸耶和華的利未人說：“你們要把聖約櫃安放在以色列王大衛的兒子所羅門建造的殿裡；不必再用肩膀扛抬。現在你們要服事耶和華你們的神，服事他的子民以色列。

然後利未人耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅憫、亞谷、沙比太、荷第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難和毘萊雅就教導他們明白律法。眾人一直站在原處聆聽。他們宣讀神的律法，把意義清楚翻譯出來，使眾民明白所宣讀的。

希西家慰勉所有善於事奉耶和華的利未人；眾人吃節筵七日，又獻上平安祭，稱頌耶和華他們列祖的神。

你聽見我攻擊這地方和它的居民的話，就是他們要成為荒涼，受咒詛，你的心就順服，在我面前謙卑，又撕裂自己的衣服，在我面前哀哭，我已經聽到了。這是耶和華的宣告。

現在我快樂，不是因為你們憂傷，而是因為你們的憂傷帶來了悔改。你們依照神的意思憂傷，凡事就不會因我們受到虧損。因為依照神的意思而有的憂傷，可以生出沒有懊悔的悔改，以致得救；世俗的憂傷卻會招致死亡。看哪，你們依照神的意思憂傷，在你們中間就產生了怎樣的熱情、申訴、憤慨、戰兢、渴望、熱誠、正義；你們在各方面都表明了自己在那事上是清白的。

我的子民因無知識而滅亡；因為你拒絕了知識，我必拒絕你，不讓你作我的祭司；因為你忘掉了你神的律法，我也必忘記你的子孫。

這些人是在約撒達的孫子、耶書亞的兒子約雅金的日子，以及在省長尼希米和祭司兼經學家以斯拉的日子任職。

王聽見律法書上的話的時候，就撕裂自己的衣服。

沒有一個人可以靠行律法，在神面前得稱為義，因為藉著律法，人對於罪才有充分的認識。

以色列人沒有真神，沒有教導他們的祭司，沒有律法，已經很久了。

你們又行了這事：使眼淚、哀哭和呻吟蓋滿了耶和華的壇，因為耶和華不再垂看禮物，也不喜悅從你們手中收納。

王一聽見律法書上的話，就撕裂自己的衣服，

“你們去，為我、也為以色列和猶大的餘民，求問耶和華關於我們發現的這書上的話；因為我們的列祖沒有謹守耶和華的話，也沒有照著這書上所記的一切去行，所以耶和華才向我們大發烈怒。”
