These are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive( they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,

Nebuchadnezzar had taken many Jews away from the land of Judah. He had forced them to go to Babylon as prisoners. Now they returned to Jerusalem and Judah. All of them went back to their own towns. Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon.

These were the people of the province who came up out of the captivity of those exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried into exile. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his town.

國人立約西亞子約哈斯俾繼國祚、年二十三即位、都耶路撒冷、僅三月、

侍衛長尼布撒剌擔、擄邑之遺民、及降於巴比倫王者、悉攜以去、

猶大王西底家九年十月、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒帥師圍耶路撒冷、十一年四月九日取之。巴比倫王之牧伯、尼甲沙利泄、三甲尼破、宦官長撒西金、博士長尼甲沙哩設、又有王之牧伯數人、咸至坐於中門。猶大王西底家與諸武士見此、則夤夜逃遁、有途近於王囿、有門在於二垣之間、由此以出、望平原而去、迦勒底人帥師、追及之、於耶利哥平原執之、解至哈末地之立拉、以見巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、請彼定擬。巴比倫王在立拉、殺西底家之世子、使之目睹、猶大之家亦遭誅殛。抉西底家之目、繫以銅索、被逮於巴比倫、王宮民室、悉為迦勒底人所燬、墮耶路撒冷城垣。侍衛長尼布撒喇擔、虜邑遺民、以及歸誠之卒、悉至巴比倫、其尚留於猶大者、惟貧乏之民而已、賜之以葡萄園田畝。巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、以耶利米託之侍衛長尼布撒喇擔、諭之曰、爾眷顧之、斷勿加害、惟視其所欲、而施之焉。侍衛長尼布撒喇擔宦官長布尼殺班、博士長尼甲沙哩設、與巴比倫王諸牧伯、遣人至外獄。召耶利米、使與沙番孫亞希甘子其大利同歸故土、居於民間。耶利米猶在外獄之時、耶和華諭之曰、往告古實人以伯米勒云、萬有之主以色列族之上帝耶和華云、我言降災於斯邑、必有效驗、俾爾目睹、惟我耶和華、必拯救爾、不付於敵手。爾惟我是賴、我手援爾、救爾生命、免於鋒刃、我耶和華已言之矣。

俘耶路撒冷群臣居民、豪傑之士、工作之輩、計一萬人、所遺者惟貧乏之人而已。以約雅斤、與王母、王后、宦豎、及有能力者、自耶路撒冷、擄至巴比倫、軍旅七千、工匠一千、及諸壯士、咸為巴比倫王所擄、至巴比倫邑。

茲我奏王、我往猶大、詣至尊上帝殿、見人用巨石材木、以築墻垣、工師迅作、其事亨通。

西底家乃立拿人、耶利米女哈母達所出、年二十有一、即位於耶路撒冷、凡歷十一年、行惡於耶和華前、效約雅金所為、故耶和華怒耶路撒冷、猶大之民、咸驅逐之、西底家叛巴比倫王。九年十月十日、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率師、至耶路撒冷、於其四周、建營築壘以攻擊、困苦其邑、至於西底家王十一年、四月九日、邑民糧罄饑甚。迦勒底人環攻其城、而陷之、武士出城、由門旁夾道、近於王囿、夤夜而遁、士卒四散、王望坦途而往、迦勒底軍追襲其後至耶利哥之坦途、執之、
